LIONS V KING'S LYNN, PREVIEW

Leicester’s match against the King’s Lynn Stars on Saturday brings to a close their fixtures in the Elite League at Beaumont Park.

It has been a season of struggle as the team has been anchored at the bottom of the league table but improved form over the last two months has seen an upturn in results with four wins at home.

The visitors themselves have struggled to find a winning formula and are just one place above the Paul Chapman and Sons Lions in the league table. Despite their problems the Norfolk club have the best away record at Leicester than any other club. In five previous appearances at Beaumont Park the Stars have harvested sixteen match points.

“Our aim is to finish the season on a high with another win. King’s Lynn have a knack of hitting top form whenever they come to our track so we have to be at our very best to break their sequence of never having lost at Leicester” stated the Lions Team Manager, Norrie Allan.

The last occasion they were at Beaumont Park was in May. The two sides were evenly matched that night with the outcome of the meeting not decided until the final race. The Lions held a four points’ lead only to let slip their advantage when Robert Lambert charged past Leicester’s pairing in separate manoeuvres to join Niels-Kristian Iversen up front. Lambert’s heroics earned his team a draw and preserved the stars two years unbeaten record at Leicester.

Iversen is King’s Lynn’s most successful rider having won twelve heats in total from four appearances but the Danish National Champion is away competing in Round 8 of the Speedway Grand Prix in Germany. Missing too is the Lions rider Aaron Summers due to a clash of fixtures with his Premier League club the Glasgow Tigers.
